Arrival of Devidas at Shirdi (Aged 10–11 years) took place in 1846. Some say “ Baba practiced penance at the tomb of His Guru in the cellar under the Neem Tree at Shirdi”. The name of his Guru was Gopal Rao Deshmukh (Venkusa, also known as Venkavadhuta) ) of Selu. In fear of increased problems by a sole widow, Baba is handed over for care with a local mendicant and story-teller, Venkusa.ġ839–51 Sai Baba spent 12 years with his Guru. Even as a small child Baba stirs up sentiments between the Hindu and Muslim community by worshiping Allah in Hindu temples, and Hindu gods in the mosque. The wife is left to tend the child alone. The infant is immediately discovered and adopted by a childless Muslim fakir and his wife.ġ838 Sai Baba lives with the Muslim couple for 4 years. The newborn infant is left in the woods, abandoned. I must suggest to visit this temple once in life.CHRONOLOGICAL LIST OF EVENTS (Episodes) CONCERNING SHRI SAI BABAġ835 Sai Baba was born in very early hours of September 27 or 28, 1835 to a poor Hindu couple, Gangabhavadya and Devagiriamma. Shirdi is a pilgrimage center in Maharashtra state where you can feel the power of God in the temple and in the surrounding area. Therefore devotees prefer hotels near Shirdi temple and near bus stand or railway station. Bhaktaniwas is the lodge which is provided by Shirdi Sai temple committee in cheap rates but usually because of crowd this lodge is always in demand and found to be booked. For accommodation there are number of hotels and lodges are available. Shirdi is the popular pilgrimage center and number of tourists visits this village every month. Shirdi airport is being constructed at Kakdi which is 15 km south-west of Shirdi. Buses and taxis are available from the railway station to reach to the temple and Shirdi can be reached by bus from any of the following cities Ahmadnagar, Mumbai, Pune, Thane and Nashik. Many trains also run from Manmad and Ahmadnagar stations. Shirdi is now has a new railway station called Sainagar Shirdi which is connected to number of cities and many trains are available to and from this station. Shirdi is located 296 km from Mumbai and the closest and highly connected city from Shirdi is Ahmadnagar. And as it is said that all good things has to end one day Baba also left his body and was laid in the Samadhi on which the Shirdi temple was built. He performed many miracles to alleviate poor needy peoples.
His way of addressing was very simple and his special powers of solving problems of poor destitute and needy peoples soon made this less known fakir into well known Shri Sai Baba and soon people realized that this Baba was not an ordinary person but a person with extraordinary powers. Sometimes Sai share his food with animals and soon this young fakir started addressing some elderly villagers, expressing his opinions and viewpoints.
Sai never ask for anything to anyone and never speak with people of village but gradually the curious villagers started asking him about his house and family and offer him food. Nobody knew him and from where this stranger had come who hardly speak a single word. Long time ago, a young bearded man with shining eyes came to Shirdi village and took shelter in a mosque. Because of Sai Baba Shirdi has become the place of importance and today it counted among the major Hindu places of pilgrimage. The temple is visited by thousand of devotees every month and the Sirdi Sai movement has spread to the Caribbean and to the other countries such as United States, Australia, Malaysia, and Singapore. Shirdi temple is a beautiful shrine built on the Samadhi of Shri Sai Baba. It is said that he was an incarnation of Lord Krishna and some people also says that he was an incarnation of Lord Dattatreya. Sai baba of Shirdi is also known as Shird ik Sai Baba was an Indian Guru, Yogi or fakir. This famous temple was established in 1922 to carry out the services of Shri Sai Baba. This village is famous for the beautiful temple of Shri Sai Baba. Shirdi, a town in Ahmadnagar district of Indian state of Maharashtra is a popular pilgrimage centre in the whole country.
